Beachfest music beats summer heat

A large number of residents from different communities spent their Thursday evening at the lovely beachfront of the Intercontinental Hotel here to enjoy music, good food and amazing crowd. The event, billed as ‘Beachfest 2009 – The Sound of Summer is Here’, was such a huge hit that its attendees hoped for more such exciting evenings before summer in Doha gets too hot to handle. Several popular personalities in the international DJ industry took turns to heat up the grand stage and dance floor set up amidst Intercon’s fabulous beachfront.

The A-list performers included award-winning British dance music DJ Judge Jules, who is known both for his ‘Djing’ expertise as well as being a fashion-forward, and DJ Yves Larock, who is the talent behind clubbing track hits ‘Rise Up’, ‘Say Yeah’ and ‘By Your Side’. The DJs made sure to heat up the dance floor during the Beachfest, which got Doha party-goers dancing crazily till the wee hours of the morning.

The star-studded evening also featured Ian C, the world’s famous percussionist/ electronic drummer, who revolutionised the idea of dance-music percussion. Ian C had his debut in Doha last year during the Hed Kandi first Doha bash. He made sure his fans here could get enough of his drumming prowess during the Beachfest.

American singer Chris Willis, who reportedly was initially a gospel singer, also excited the audience with his rendition of disco house music which propelled him to stardom. The international celebrities were joined by resident DJs of Global DJs, which included DJs Jared “Master Jay” McCulloch, Paul Mendez and Sam. Global DJs, a Doha-based music event outfit, organised the big beach bash along with Qatar Vision and Intercontinental Hotel Doha. Global DJs is among the trend-setters of the biggest parties in town and known for bringing in Doha among the world’s renowned personalities in the DJ industry. Their signature touch included taking partying to the highest level andmaking sure Doha got to see the who’s who on the music scene.

Intercontinental Hotel Doha is also known for hosting the biggest beach parties in town. Talking to Qatar Tribune earlier, Intercon Doha General Manager Michael Koth said that they were gearing up for more such exciting beach parties as part of their summer offerings as well as the muchtalked about live performance by American singing sensation Akon on May 22.
